Now we have a can of canned air--that we never needed or wanted before. We searched all day to find any store open to buy the canned air to spray into the strum. This was a gift for my daughter for Christmas. They said to use "canned air". There are enough bad reviews on this and the strum to suggest that there is no quality control or testing of batches prior to shipping. Now we have to pay for a return (bought on Amazon). The guitar strum was DOA. Followed the directions from the company for a return after being on hold for an hour plus.
No luck there. The packaging is so tight that repacking to send to Amazon is crazy. Rating is for the guitar that comes with the PLAYSTATION 3 RockBand. The whole unit made a funny humming noise. Finally got the canned air--still did what it did before, which was to not really move at all on the down stroke.
Also looks cooler.(I gave the guitar hero game away haha) Something was wrong.Solution: Picked up cheap guitar hero game for $30 with 2 wireless guitars and hubs, gave away one guitar. The one that came with my RB2 had a busted overdrive too - I opened it up to check the tilt sensor and it was fine. If I plugged guitar in the PC, it WOULD send a signal once I tilted past 15 degrees or so, but in the RB2 game with the ps3, it didn't care. I like the strum better, and overdrive works.
Look for the newer model. I felt like smashing it into tiny little bits because I would spend so much time frustrated at it while trying to deploy overdrive that I would completely fail out of the song. I just got this today, and it works perfectly fine if you don't want to go into overdrive. Trying to deploy overdrive with this thing made we want to scream. Don't buy this.
The RB1 is still my favorite, to the point that I've ordered another RB1 guitar to have as a backup when one of the others dies. But I've gotten more 100% with my RB1 guitar than any of the others. I've played GH, RB1, RB2, and the WarBeast guitars. I don't know if anyone else has tried this and had this issue, but when playing one RB1 with one RB2 guitar, there's a lot of notes missed - I think there's trouble with the wireless signals between the two different guitars.
i really like it, but the thing that they got wrong was that they made the strum bar silent and the frett buttons loud and clanky, what they should of done is make the strum bar a little louder and the fret buttons silent.overall: great looking guitar controller and plays well.
